005: let it be beautiful

to be played at: Alexander McQueen or Marchesa

for the girl: who can see beauty everywhere

mood: In American Beauty there’s this scene – a piece of trash dancing in the wind – it is fragile – it is beautiful – it inspired this playlist.  Both Michael Nyman’s classical songs, “The Heart Asks Pleasure First”/”Dreams of a Journey” and Ólafur Arnalds’s neo-classical songs “Hægt, Kemur Ljósið”/”Ljósið” capture this fragility and beauty.  Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” puts words to the sentiment, but the beat is too up-beat; so, I used the Ministry cover. This playlist sets the stage for a theatrical Galliano/McQueen show with extraordinary Chanel/Marchesa workmanship and experienced walkers like Kate Moss/Chanel Iman.

songs that didn’t make the cut, sadly: La Valse à Mille Temps – Jacques Brel

The world can be a beautiful place, if you let it be. Look. Closely.
